Toll-free InfoLine
To use the new services, all you have to do is call 1-888-456-2227, toll-free. Counselors are available Monday through Thursday, 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Counseling
In many cases BALANCE counselor will answer you questions immediately. Counselors are qualified to discuss general money management, credit and housing topics including goal setting, spending and saving plans, credit and credit reports, debt management, buying a first home, loan delinquency and mortgage foreclosure prevention. Members also have access to counselors with Certified Financial Planning (CFP) credentials.
Debt Management Plan
If you're having trouble making ends meet, are receiving collection calls or letter, or you simply need some help to make progress paying down your debt, this may be the plan for you. Through this plan, BALANCE can consolidate bill payments and negotiate with creditors to lower payments and, in some cases, reduce or eliminate interest and fees. Your University Credit Union membership provides this service FREE.
QuickPay
Use this computer-generated bill-paying schedule to compute the most efficient way to pay back debt. This program shows you how to spend less on interest charges and speed up the repayment process. Again this service is FREE.
